I recently purchased the Scarlette 2i2 and downloaded the “2i2 USB 2. If you have purchased a 2nd Gen Scarlett 2i2 or 2i2 Studio serial focusrite scarlett 2i2 asio Vxxxxxxxxxxxx or Wxxxxxxxxxxxxplease select Scarlett 2i2 [New generation] or Scarlett 2i No problems at all.
Want to add to the discussion? Not very helpful I know, but I’m in the same boat. I did install the Focusrite beta drivers beforehand, but nothing changed until I updated Avast, so I don’t know if they did any good.

Somehow I magically managed to aaio it working again by restarting my computer, but that only worked focusrite scarlett 2i2 asio few times and now it won’t at all. After upgrading to Windows 10, I downloaded and install this beta driver and was amazed with the far better performance compared to Windows 8. Very similar almost identical issues but with a different sound device.
